Facts about Animation Files

GIF Animations

The use of GIF animation files represent an animation type that is used within emails, PowerPoint presentations and web sites. These are usually of very small size for fast display.

Flash Animations

Using Flash, or Flash Video, requires a computer having the Adobe Flash Player. Most systems have this software as part of their base system. If you find the animation does not work, you can get this free download from Adobe's web site. Search for "Adobe Flash Player" and get the most recent release. The most current release is available at http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer.

Animations in Microsoft PowerPoint Slides

Microsoft has some very good detailed instructions on how to insert a Flash (.swf) animation into a PowerPoint slide show at http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/powerpoint/HA012303211033.aspx. If you purchase a Flash Video (.flv), you must convert your .flv into a .swf to use these instructions. This is called embedding into a .swf file. The Flash development kit allows you to do this or you can use other conversion tools.

Download File

When you purchase a file from ProfessionalAnimations.com, we create a download file with all of the files necessary for running your animation. We use WinZip, a commonly used utility to compress all files into a compact file for sending across the internet. Winzip can be downloaded for free as a demo product at http://www.winzip.com/index.htm. There may be several files within the .zip file. All of these files should be put into the same directory for running the animation. The type of animation purchased will depend on the type and number of support files within the download file. Use the Extract selection from within Winzip to put all files into the same directory. The file extensions below describe each of the possible file types. The ##### represents the animation id number purchased.

#####.gif, a GIF animation.

#####.swf, a Flash animation.

#####.flv, a Flash Video animation.

#####.html, the sample HTML code file to run the animation. This code can be used in your index.html file to incorporate the animation within your web site.

swfobject.jsp, a JavaScript to support the FLVPlayer.swf file.
